ABOUT TETON
AVALANCHE

Teton Avalanche is a non-profit youth sports organization dedicated to developing student athletes through training and competition. Based in Jackson Hole and a member of the AAU, our club provides a platform for student athletes aspiring to play at the collegiate level, building a strong foundation of athleticism, fundamentals, and tournament experience.

Girls Head Coach

TOM
HOLLAND

Tom Holland has spent more than twenty years helping young people grow through education, coaching, and outdoor leadership. A former award‑winning high school teacher, Tom began his career in the classroom as a history teacher and basketball coach. Tom’s leadership in youth development grew during his fifteen years at Teton Valley Ranch Camp, where he advanced from counselor to Executive Director. He later served on the National Board of the American Camp Association and went on to become the association’s CEO. Today, Tom and his wife Catherine own and direct Wilderness Adventures, providing outdoor programs to students from around the globe. Tom holds a BA in Secondary Education and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He and Catherine have four children, all of whom share his love for the game of basketball.

BJ IVEY

Boys Head Coach

IVEY

BJ Ivey is Director of Athletics and Head Boys Basketball Coach at Sarasota High School, with an extensive background in coaching and teaching. Previously, he served as the Director of Operations for men's basketball at Florida Gulf Coast University and as the head boys basketball coach at Riverview High School. Known for his transformative impact, Ivey's teams have compiled a record of 355-138. Ivey has mentored over 40 players who went on to compete at the Division 1 level through Nike Team Florida and Adidas Team Florida. Beyond athletics, Ivey has been recognized for his dedication to education, earning Sarasota County Teacher of the Year and the prestigious Shine Award presented by Governor Rick Scott. In recognition of his enduring impact on students, staff, athletes, and peers, Coach Ivey was awarded the Ripple Effect Award by Sarasota County Schools in 2023.
